Our Mission

The Desert Light Foundation provides education, mentoring, and training in photography and creative thinking to disadvantaged & vulnerable young people who would otherwise be limited in accessing such opportunities due to location, financial, social, and health issues.

We believe that photography and creative pursuits can provide meaningful learning and positive engagement, which can support young people in becoming agents of change, facing life's hardships, and adversity.

Our Work

Is grounded in the belief that photography can be a path to wellbeing - that every young person has a unique perspective which matters.

We aim to deliver programs that are

  • Emotionally intelligent

  • Trauma-informed

  • Culturally respectful

  • Creatively empowering

  • Spiritually and socially connected

“Lights, camera, action!

Life with photography has made me see the different personalities in one another, and nature has inspired me to feel free to take my photos. I have learnt to be unique with my photos and feel surprised by the way I can think to make them interesting”
